One of the goals of FYDe is to educate our communities on issues relevant to their projects and challenges. In the course of our research, we often find interesting sites and sometimes we contribute our own! As our online community, we hope to also share with you!
Our founder, Benjamin Sunday, submitted this video as part of his application to be a 2011 YouthActionNet Global Fellow. Thanks to the great people at the International Youth Foundation, he won! Benjamin traveled to Mexico City to meet the other fellows, learn about social entrepreneurship, and launch a year of consultation with American staff.
FYDe submitted this video as part of a grant to Starbucks through the YouthActionNet program, as part of a pending application to fund a scale-up of our beekeeping fences project! Cross your fingers and drink lots of Frappuccinos.
You don't believe that bees can scare elephants? Check out this short video, which shows elephants making a low rumble sound in response to hearing bees nearby. This sound acts as a warning to the others and the herd is getting out of there!
This is a beautifully produced video, showing how a project in Kenya is doing similar work under the leadership of Dr. Lucy King, a zoologist with Save the Elephants. While larger-scale and better funded (STE, Oxford, and Disney), the simple and amazing concept is the very same as the solution innovated by our beekeepers in Kataara.
Here is a manual, produced by Dr. Lucy King and Save the Elephants, that instructs how to make beehive fences. FYDe is now using this manual to model our own work. Sharing resources helps everyone!
